That combined with an independent suspension, giving the Optima a quick, nimble feel-even though if handling is one of your top priorities you'd probably be happier with the Fusion, Mazda6, or Altima.

Hybrid EX sedans get a rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and Infinity audio standard.

Reviews Word on the street for the Kia Optima LX Hybrid

A manual six-speed is offered; we've tested the six-speed automatic, which teams expertly with the four.

It's essentially a black mesh grille bordered by angular headlights, and the design enhances the car's aggressiveness.

From its cross-hatch front grille and long sweptback headlight housing, to the weather-vane-style wheels on the SX trim, the Optima looks likes it's going fast even when it's parked.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Only one transmission is offered: A 6-speed Sportronic automatic with manual-shift mode.
by KBB (May, 2013)
Meeting the needs of those who want to be as green as possible is the Optima Hybrid, with its electric-motor system and lithium-polymer battery pack that pair with a four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission (not a CVT).
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)
It makes 200 horsepower, and while it's a little coarse when wound out, you rarely need to visit the high revs as it churns out the torque and works extremely well with the six-speed automatic transmission that most models will have (a manual six-speed should still be available).
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)

Optional equipment highlights include a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather seating, Infinity sound system, touch-screen navigation system, UVO infotainment voice-active system and rearview camera.
by KBB (May, 2013)
But with heated and cooled front seats available-heated back seats, too-the Optima and the back seats can be heated, too.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)
On the bright side, heated and cooled front seats—as well as heated back seats—are available on EX and SX models, and we've appreciated this feature in the hot sun.

TURBOCHARGED 2.0-LITER ENGINEWho needs a V6 anyway?
by KBB (May, 2013)
The standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder is nearly as powerful as some V6 engines and gets far better fuel economy.
by KBB (May, 2013)
Those who simply want an economical mid-size sedan with decent performance will be plenty satisfied with the base 2.4-liter four-cylinder with direct injection.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)

Body style

Its crisp, distinct styling direction is nearly the opposite of the more exuberant, sculptural look that's all over the Hyundai lineup and the Sonata sedan, which is closely related.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)
Non-hybrid versions earn as high as 35 mpg-excellent numbers for such a large, roomy sedan.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)
Crisp, focused details and a smooth, Euro-influenced profile make the 2013 Kia Optima one of the best-looking mid-size sedans.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)

The 2013 Optima is a strong value, with standard power features, cruise control, a USB port and satellite radio.
by The Car Connection (Jul, 2013)
The 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid features lightweight wheels in your choice of standard 16-inch or sporty 17-inchers, as well as the EcoMinder LCD panel with graphics and lighting that change to show when the car is achieving maximum fuel economy.
by KBB (May, 2013)
A Bluetooth interface is standard, a rearview camera system is available.
