Its 6.8-second 0-to-60-mph run is pretty good for a vehicle with precisely zero sporting intent, and the eight-speed automatic is unobtrusive and quick.
by Car and Driver (Jan, 2013)
Good ground clearance even with the air suspension not raised all the way up," noted associate online editor Benson Kong.

Reviews Word on the street for the Porsche Cayenne

When equipped with the Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) air-suspension system and Porsche Dynamic Chassic Control (PDCC)-both of which we recommend-the Cayenne is incredibly flexible in adapting to the driving surface and the driver's desires.

Unlike some hybrids, the Cayenne S Hybrid uses a step-gear automatic transmission, a version of the eight-speed automatic in the other Cayennes.

And while that might sound overwhelming at first, operating conventional interior controls is far less distracting than sifting through a series of complicated on-screen menus.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

The engine mapping has been completely reworked too, providing quicker throttle response and a faster build-up in torque.
by AutoBlog (Jul, 2012)
A six-speed manual is standard on the base Cayenne, while Cayenne S, Turbo, and Hybrid models get the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic (it's optional with the V-6).
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Even base Cayennes are relatively quick, getting to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds with the Tiptronic S automatic transmission, or 7.1 seconds with the six-speed manual.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)

Combine the added horsepower and the extra gearing leverage with the fact that all 958-generation Cayennes weigh in some 400 pounds lighter than their predecessors, and 0-60-mph acceleration is claimed to improve by two-tenths to 5.4 seconds, while top speed increases by 2 mph to 162.
by MotorTrend
Zero-to-60 mph times are shortened to 5.6 seconds, top speed is 160 mph, and the brawnier powertrain is a more appropriate fit for the look and feel of this performance SUV.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
With a curb weight of 4,795 pounds, Porsche conservatively estimates it will accelerate to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.
by AutoBlog (Sep, 2012)

This most welcome enhancement is achieved by an extra 3 psi of boost, an intercooler taken from the Cayenne Turbo, and a new, lower-restriction exhaust system.
by Car and Driver (Nov, 2012)
Tell everyone you know to buy the V-6 now, so you can park the V-8 in your garage later.
by Car and Driver (Nov, 2012)
Porsche has not yet decided if it will offer the V-8 model in the U.S., preferring to first monitor the success of its lesser V-6 sibling.
by Car and Driver (Nov, 2012)

Our editors strongly recommend the Porsche Adaptive Suspension Mangement (PASM) air-suspension system, which improves the ride signficantly while also improving handling.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Another welcome but pricey addition was the $3980 air suspension with self-leveling height adjustment and Porsche's Active Suspension Management, which came in handy once the pavement met the dirt.
by MotorTrend
With the latter feature, ride height can be elevated to a maximum 10.6 inches of ground clearance.
by MotorTrend

The Sportdesign steering wheel with paddle shifters and audio controls is also standard (a $290 value).
by MotorTrend
The eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission's action and the Porsche Traction Management chassis has reached near perfection here.
by AutoBlog (Dec, 2012)
The manual likely won't fly off the shelves but it provides a different driving experience and allowed us to make the most of the V6.
