Its 6.8-second 0-to-60-mph run is pretty good for a vehicle with precisely zero sporting intent, and the eight-speed automatic is unobtrusive and quick.
by Car and Driver (Jan, 2013)
Good ground clearance even with the air suspension not raised all the way up," noted associate online editor Benson Kong.

Reviews Word on the street for the Porsche Cayenne Diesel

When equipped with the Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) air-suspension system and Porsche Dynamic Chassic Control (PDCC)-both of which we recommend-the Cayenne is incredibly flexible in adapting to the driving surface and the driver's desires.

Unlike some hybrids, the Cayenne S Hybrid uses a step-gear automatic transmission, a version of the eight-speed automatic in the other Cayennes.

And while that might sound overwhelming at first, operating conventional interior controls is far less distracting than sifting through a series of complicated on-screen menus.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

A six-speed manual is standard on the base Cayenne, while Cayenne S, Turbo, and Hybrid models get the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic (it's optional with the V-6).
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Even base Cayennes are relatively quick, getting to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds with the Tiptronic S automatic transmission, or 7.1 seconds with the six-speed manual.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
The new Cayenne Diesel gets its motivation from a highly efficient, torque-rich turbocharged V6.
by KBB (May, 2013)

Zero-to-60 mph times are shortened to 5.6 seconds, top speed is 160 mph, and the brawnier powertrain is a more appropriate fit for the look and feel of this performance SUV.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
With a curb weight of 4,795 pounds, Porsche conservatively estimates it will accelerate to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.
by AutoBlog (Sep, 2012)
Despite a curb weight 300 pounds heavier than its gasoline-powered V6 sibling, and 60 fewer horses, our seat-of-the-pants impression is that the oil-burning Cayenne Diesel is quicker and more spirited at the lower end of the speedometer (there is no denying the thrust provided by an additional 111 pound-feet of torque).
by AutoBlog (Sep, 2012)

The 2013 Porsche Cayenne is offered in seven trim levels: Base, Diesel, S, S Hybrid, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S. Base models include all-wheel drive, water-repellent front side windows, a height-adjustable power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers and a 10-speaker audio system with a 7-inch touch screen.
by KBB (May, 2013)
Sure, other Cayenne models are interesting: the 500-horsepower Turbo; the throaty, V-8 GTS; the base V-6... uh, OK, that one not so much.
by MotorTrend
Service signs along the highway won't catch the eye of Cayenne Diesel drivers as much those in Cayenne V-6 or S Hybrid models, because goes much farther on one tank.
by MotorTrend

Our editors strongly recommend the Porsche Adaptive Suspension Mangement (PASM) air-suspension system, which improves the ride signficantly while also improving handling.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Another welcome but pricey addition was the $3980 air suspension with self-leveling height adjustment and Porsche's Active Suspension Management, which came in handy once the pavement met the dirt.
by MotorTrend
With the latter feature, ride height can be elevated to a maximum 10.6 inches of ground clearance.

Base V-6 Cayenne models offer a respectable base set of features-nearly complete, in fact, with all of the luxury, connectivity, technology, and comfort features you'd expect.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Above the base model is the Cayenne S, which performs considerably better and packs a 400-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 engine.
by The Car Connection (Dec, 2012)
Depending on your expectations, the only exception to that might be the base Cayenne V-6; with its higher power and weight loss since the Cayenne's redesign a couple of years ago, the base Cayenne and its 300-horsepower 3.6-liter (VR6) V-6 engine is sharp enough to execute quick passes—and relatively fuel-efficient—but it's not much quicker than the punchier V-6 minivans on the market (7.1 seconds to 60 mph).
